Great Southern provides employment for approximately 1000 people nationally.

Great Southern proudly recognises the skills, value and knowledge local people contribute to its business and for this reason the company prefers to employ staff and to use contractors and suppliers for the supply of all goods and services, who are local to the areas in which it operates, wherever possible.

In the managed investment scheme sector, a proportion of the $1billion plus of funds invested annually is paid to employees, contractors and local businesses in the areas in which the operations and their processing facilities are located. This direct investment stimulates more than twice that amount in indirect business investment and commercial and household spending in these regions.

Great Southern offers a wide variety of employment opportunities with offices and properties in most states and territories of Australia. To find out more, please visit the Careers section of our website.

Providing pathways to employment

Great Southern continues to be a major contributor to those seeking a career in the many facets of agribusiness in which it participates.  As well as providing practical on-the-job training through apprenticeships and traineeships, the company provides an education program for primary and early secondary students, provides academic prizes and awards for students, placements and work experience for students, and has been a driving force in the establishment of a specialist forestry training school.

In Albany, WA, Great Southern Plantations has so far made $225,000 available to the Forest Training Centre, established to train and provide skilled labour for employment in the local plantation forestry and manufacturing industries.
